Well, I like a lot of different music, so this was muy hard.
they are in no order at all because it would be unfair. I tried to get the right balance of old and new but im not sure ive got it right..

Pulp Fiction Theme - Derek and his Del Tones(It`s just brilliant)
The Wicker Man - Iron Maiden (It`s new maiden, but its superb)
Kindred Spirits - Dream Theatre(Technical Prog Metal Rules. End of debate.)
Battery - Metallica (Maybe the best opening to a song ever)
Man Who Sold The World (MTV Unplugged) - Nirvana (Easily the best nirvana song)
Black Dog - Led Zeppelin (Hmmm it was a hard choice but my personal fave led zep)
This Charming Man - The Smiths (The best smiths song, and that says something)
Get On Top - Red Hot Chili Peppers (Funk Rock at its best)
Rock The Casbah - The Clash (Dunno why, I just love it)
One - Metallica (I really do love it!!!) (And just check out that bass pedal!!!)
Pain - Four Star Mary (Most under-rated band ever. They really do rule)
Zwitter - Rammstein(Picking a Rammstein song was hard, but I do love this one)
Hurt - Johnny Cash (Originally a NIN song, this is true brilliance)
Hold The Line - Toto (I just LOVE the chorus!!)
Fireball - Deep Purple (Drums are the best I can remember while doing this)
Killing In The Name Of - Rage Against The Machine (All RATM is worth hearing)
Sultans Of Swing - Dire Straits (This and Money For Nothing are genius)
Won`t Get Fooled Again - The Who (A brilliant song, but all of the who is)
I`m Broken - Pantera (Metal at its finest)
The Boys Are Back In Town - Thin Lizzy (A Classic Rock Classic)
Good Girl - Mad Capsule Markets (Anyone out there downloads some of the MCMs)
Foo Fighters - Everlong (Just so pure and lovely rock)

So many didnt make it.... I just love music so it was sooooooooooooo hard.
Enjoy the list people, and make sure you get ALL these songs.

ok whoever wrote the thread right before this is a good man. EXCELLENT LIST. there is only one thing that i would change. i would definately put AC/DC higher up on the list. there is no way that u can tell me that highway to hell, back in black, or you shook me all night long isnt in your top 30. AC/DC was known as one of the pioneers of heavy metal. and im also not seeing any black sabbath on there. youre gonna tell me that paranoid isnt one of the greatest rock songs of all time? come on

anyways besides those two thing, you have the most accurate list ive looked at so far

The Definitive List    00:22 on Sunday, October 10, 2004

Posted by Archived posts

1. "Stairway To Heaven" Led Zeppelin (Blantantly the greatest song ever recorded, too bad it`s played on the radio constantly though.)
2. "Hotel California" The Eagles (Great lyrics and excellent guitar work)
3. "Hey Joe" Jimi Hendrix (Greatest Song from the greatest guitarist.)
4. "Smoke On The Water" (Also played to death, but has one of the greatest riffs in rock history.)
5. "Yesterday" The Beatles (Heartwrenching lyrics)
6. "Sweet Child O` Mine" (Masterfully crafted)
7. "Comfortably Numb" (Even though Floyd was ridiculously talented, they are heavily underrated)
8. "Kashmir" Led Zeppelin (The Gods at their creative height)
9. "Freebird" Lynyrd Skynyrd (Awesome southern rock.)
10. "Bohemian Rhapsody" (Many different styles encapsulated on one great tune)
11. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (Influenced the entire grunge movement)
12. "Welcome To The Machine" Pink Floyd (Largely unknown, this song and the album "Wish You Were Here" is a criminally underrated epic)

I could go on for hours but there are many more songs from epic bands like Zeppelin, Floyd, the beatles, boston, bob dylan, nirvana, black sabbath, ac/dc, hendrix, deep purple, stevie miller, the eagles, U2, skynyrd, van halen, cat stevens, metallica, korn, cream, steppenwolf, the doors, the who, aerosmith
