I can`t beleive that no one has even mentioned Rush here...

Tom Sawyer has got to be included in this discussion. I may not include Rush in the top 10 all time bands, but in terms of individual songs, Tom Sawyer has to be in there.

Same goes with Boston, pick any of the first few songs from their first album...

I agree that Rush should be on the list, but not Tom Sawyer
2112 is their masterpiece.

Boston is just corporate rock

I would have to disagree with your classification of Boston as corporate rock...in particular the songs I mentioned..This was basically Tom Scholz created music. Later on, he had massive pressure from his label, resulting in a law suit of some sort I believe....

But, whatever, I was merely talking about the songs. That`s it.

In terms of Rush: 2112 is an incredible piece of work, but I tend to take it as a whole album, and wouldn`t want to single out any 1 track as the best. The discussion was about the best song...

Rush has been mentioned on the board so far. Oh wait, guess what songs have been mentioned. Tom Sawyer and 2112. There are many other great ones by rush too, and I am not going to go into them because I love rush and will go on for too long.

1. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen: This song is just so varied. It is like a journey the whole way thru, always changing, and is less boring than stairway (not to knock it, but it does get old after about the 20th listen)
2. Free Bird - Lynyrd skynyrd: This song is my personal favorite of all time. It gets absolutely awesome at about the 3 minute mark.
3. Pink Floyd - Comfortably numb: What an awesome solo. There are probly better Pink Floyd songs but the solo gets it over the line
4. Black - Pearl Jam: I have loved this song since the first time i heard it. It is just a beautiful song.
5. Stairway to heaven - led zep: loyalty, and loyalty only. led is my fav. band, but i am soo bored of stairway that it is almost painful to listen to. But i still appreciate it of course and hence it is here.
6. Mr Crowley - Ozzy Osborne: This song just blows me away, Randy rhoads` guitar solos are just perfect and this song demonstrates that more than any other. Anyone who hasn`t heard this song should get it asap
7. Texas Flood - Stevie ray vaughan - This song is what got me into bluesy-rock style music. Brilliant guitar solo-work the whole way thru.
8. Sweet Child of Mine - Guns n Roses: This song (in my book) beats "eye of the tiger" as the best pump-up song ever. It does have novelty value tho. i.e u get sick of it.
9. Hotel California - The eagles. Alot of people seem to think this song is over-rated. I think its underrated. It is a brilliant song, and is not as repetitive as stairway to heaven but of the same creative ingenuity.
10. Sympathy for the Devil - Rolling stones. Simply, an awesome song. The best from the stones
