GUYS – it's easy to figure out! Here's the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRbPWcLode0
The 1st riff starts (concert pitch): F# F# _ _ _ A A _ E E _ (etc)
Trumpeters and alto saxophonists ... your written parts will be up a tone and up a major 6th respectively.
The 2nd riff comes in at 0'29": F# F# C# F# D F# C# F# (etc)
∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿∿
THE WHOLE POINT IS THIS: ear training is even more important in a rock band than in a concert band or orchestra. Of course, being able to hear when you're in tune is essential everywhere ... but you could possibly go through a whole career as a concert band or orchestral musician and never once have to play anything without the "dots" on your music stand.
In a rock situation, what are your chances of having the right music placed in front of you at the first rehearsal? Ranges from sometimes to maybe to never.
Better get those ears happening NOW before the phone rings and it's a Mr. Osbourne inquiring as to your availability next week!!
