OOOoohhh!!! OR do you guys know any COOL music camps? interlochen is the only thing i heard of.
I really wanted to go to Interlochen as a kid, but even then it was super-expensive and my parents couldn't afford it. So I went first to a flute camp at a state university, and to band camps at local colleges in subsequent years.
Talk to your flute teacher/band director about available band/orchestra/music camps. Many colleges and universities offer them and right about now is when they send the info to different schools in your state.
I REALLY wanted to go also as a high school student, but the 'rents couldn't afford that one either. I went to Florida State University Band Camp, though. That was the BEST band camp ever. It's really awesome. You play all sorts of music. There are lots of kids there for 2 weeks I think it is. It's $751 for the two weeks including food and housing. They have all sorts of bands, symphonic, concert, orchestral, honors, plus masterclasses, and optional lessons! It was a blast when I went, and 2 weeks isn't bad at all! I highly recommend it, and if you go...I'll be moving to Tallahassee on June 1st, I am going to try to come to the concerts, and would love to check out the band camps before I start school in the fall there. Check it out!
Yea..i heard interlochen was quite pricey and also, it's very long..maybe like you guys i could go to a band camp at a university. OH! there's northwestern Univ. next to my house. I should go there! i heard they have a good music program. YEAH! and there's a beach in front too...YUP. 20 mins..away, not bad at all:D i'm excited.

OOOooh FLORIDA?? I'm going there over the summer to my aunt's house!..AHHHH!! maybe i could go there! AWESOME^_^ i wonder how long it is..i should check the website. ooh, i have to leave..
It's two weeks long. Definitely worth it. I am not sure who the flute teacher would be during the summer camp, but the flute professor during the school year is Eva Amsler. She is quite awesome!
I will be an undergrad at 26 years old...LOL. Right now I am in for Clarinet, Music Education, and I want to go into the commercial music program in my junior year. I will try out for the flute performance probably in the fall. I might send in a CD here in the next week or two if I can get one together that I approve of. I would love to do both clarinet and flute at the same time, and get them over with as soon as possible. Hope to see you there! What year are you?
Dennis, since you will be so close to where I live, I wanted to let you know that you are welcome at my home anytime. I would love to have you over sometime!
That would be awesome Kara! Thanks a lot. I might go there a bit too, because as I told you before I have a friend that lives near Little Rock, and was born in Conway.

P.S. you might have to show me how to plate things! I think I want to get into that next.
Actually, I'm considering attending Interlochen in the summer of 2007. I live about two hours away, so I guess it's not nearly as extreme of a change for me as it is for you, but I'm fairly sure they allow visitors (unless one of my friends had to sneak past security to see her brother...lol). It is pricey, but if you're a member of your local youth symphony, they probably offer scholarships.
