I was just speaking with a friend about how my neighbor upstairs has a Jack Moore flute. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience playing these, and has anything to offer as far as contact info, or even knowing if they are being made anymore? I cannot find anything on them except headjoints. His tone is amazing, and he plays on a Jack Moore from head to foot. He bought it over 10 years ago and doesn't even know if Mr. Moore still makes flutes or if he is even still with us today. Any info is appreciated! Thanks,

Jack Moore is hard to get hold of, I have one of his gold headjoints and have tried to contact him several times regarding it with no luck. Try some of the flute web sites.

Jack Moore was Foreman for the Armstrong company when it was still the Armstrong company back in the day. He personally made the Heritage line If I remember correctly, They were to be a handmade instrument that Jack made when he took over as foreman.

If you can find an Old Heritage flute, this will serve your purpose..

Old Heritage, circa 1970s. Same thing with DeFord, Wimberley and Tom Green. All were involved with the Heritage line at some point. I don't know who has been involved with the Heritage line more recently though.

Yes that is what I recall also..The last person who was doing anything there was Kerry Kling------. He recently left Conn-Selmer to become a buyer for a large musical instrument chain store.

If you need other inside info He might have some and I know how to contact him. (he's a very good tech (no longer repairing though) and a very good oboist)

I have heard great things about Tom Green Flutes also. Those are easier to get also...anyone have experience with these?

Yes, I have a 14 Karat Tom Green. It is simply magnificent...There's really no other word to describe it. Anyone and everyone (including William Bennett and Trevor Wye) who has tried it remarks on how incredible it is, and after playing professional instruments from every major maker, as well as many smaller makers and old French flutes as well, I have found nothing that can match up to it. It practically plays itself. A simply magnificent flute, and his flutes are generally quite a bit less expensive than other makers comparable models, which is always a plus. I simply cannot praise his work enough.

I have also heard good things about Tom Greens flutes. I have never tried one. I have yet to play a flute that I like better then mine, so it would be very interesting for me to try one out.
