Hey!

My dentist sad that my teeth are not in a very good position so it'll be good for me that I get braces. And now I'm woried if braces could be a problem for me, because I'm playing flute. Can I play flute just normal even with braces??

Most people manage OK, after a few days to get used to it, but if you have been pulling your lip tight against your teeth, then it may be more difficult. (If so, it will do you good to learn not to do that :-)

But definitely mention the issue to your dentist. They have different options to attach the appliance to the teeth. Some are very bulky behind your lip and others are not. I don't know if this makes a difference to the price.

I have had a ton of different types of braces (my teeth and jaw is really messed up) I don't have a problem at all with the braces it takes about a week after the braces hurt (braces hurt for about three days) to be really used to playing with your braces it really won't disturb your playing at all but as micron said if you need a special type of braces that are bulkier you may won't to ask your orthodonist (sp) about smaller ones but sometimes they can not do anything about it but you should be able to get used to it fast enough

when you get your braces i would not play your flute the day you get them on or even the next day it just makes it a bit easier

I learned to play with braces. After two years I got them off. I was really worried about the flute. It took me a day or two to adjust to playing without them.

I have had students with all types of braces and retainers, etc, and they can all play fine, they just need to really learn to focus, which means some of them do even better

I've had braces for a couple of years and after I got them on they hurt for a few days which meant I couldn't play the flute but after a couple of days I got use to playing the flute with braces. It just feels a little weird for your lips to be pressing against metal but you will get use to it. It was the same when I got my braces off. I wasn't use to my teeth being smooth but I got use to it quickly.
