The girl that sits next to me in orchestra and I were asked to perform a piece together but i havent exactly played any difficult duets before, so im not very familiar with whats out there. We were also thinking that after our performance, we could take it to solo and ensemble and perform there. in other words, im asking for recommendations. we like dopplers andante & rondo and would like to stick in that difficulty range or there abouts. Any suggestions?

"The girl that sits next to me in orchestra..."
wow. that sounds rather childish. i apologize. allow me to correct that:
"A fellow flutist..."
ah, better.

There is a link to one I am particularly fond of. I am not too sure how Flute World grades their music, but I would actually say there are sections of this piece that are significantly harder than Andante and Rondo.
This piece takes variations of American Patriotic songs and puts them as a duet. I really like this piece. It's fun and challenging! You should check it out!

Stamitz duets are easy but nice, were suitable for me at my 3rd year. Dont know if you look for something more challenging

Why not Kuhlau?
Are they too difficult?
I think Op.10 are not. I just think they have too long movements, but depending on the velocity they are played can be interesting.

Good suggestion Zevang! I'm a fan of Kuhlau's Op. 39. I'd suggest you check those out. Then there are things like the Cimarosa concerto.

ive thought about kuhlau actually. it sounds like a good idea. and its not a matter of something being too difficult for either of us, but a matter of i didnt want anything much easier than the doppler. she agreed too. we dont want to work on a piece that we can play a few times and have it down, but a challenge would be better, you know?

There's a duet version of the Carnival of Venice available. I can't say I care for it much as a duet, but that could be a more challenging option.

Memories of Prague by Doppler is a good one. A more trickier one by Doppler is the Rigoletto Fantaisie.

I LOVE the Cimarosa Concerto for two Flutes!! I also like the Ronda a la Turca that James Galway had rewritten for two flutes. Both of these piece have piano parts in them, however.

I went digging through my collection the other day and found these duets also. They are quite fun although tricky in lots of places. (I believe this link is the same set I have.) Again, not sure I would rate these as a 2, I think rhythmically some of the movements and a lot of the accidentals cause them to be a bit more difficult, but they sound a little less "traditional" and are quite a lot of fun.

oh, i played almost all of those with someone over the summer at interlochen (we played all but the second one, i think). they were fun, although some were challenging. id rather try something a little harder, longer, etc.
...that sounded a bit wrong

The Muczynski Duos are quite wonderful. I play them on flute and clarinet (they were written also for a clarinet/flute duet). I should record these one day soon.
