Did you know that only..................................................................ONE IN 17 FLUTE PLAYERS GET A SCHOLARSHIP? YOU GOTTA PRACTICE! ALSO I`VE BEEN NOTICING A LOT OF GENDER CLASHES ON THIS FORUM...WHY CAN`T WE ALL AGREE FOR ONCE? FLUTES MAY BE CONSIDERED A MORE GIRLY INSTRUMENT, BUT IF ALL OF THE GUYS WENT AND PLAYED TUBA LIKE ALL OF THE FEMALES TO PORTRAY THEM TO, BANDS WOULD BE LIKE REALLY REALLY NO FUN TO LISTEN TO...ESPECIALLY IF ALL OF THE GIRLS WENT OFF AND PLAYED FLUTE. IN MY BAND, THERE ARE 50% BOYS THAT PLAY FLUTE. AND NO ONE OFFENDS THEM! SO ALL OF YALL NEED TO GET A LIFE AND GROW UP. ALSO, CODY P. STOP, AND I MEAN STOP CUSSING...EVEN IF GIRLS SOMETIMES GET ON YOUR NERVES THERE IS NO REASON TO CALL THEM "FEMALE DOGS," ALRIGHT?! YOU HAVE MORE GROWING UP TO DO THAN ANYONE ON THESE FORUMS, THANK YOU. CHERRI REDD (THAT`S MY REAL NAME BY THE WAY)

<<ONE IN 17 FLUTE PLAYERS GET A SCHOLARSHIP?

Right.. are we talking: flute players of an equal level or flute players in general? In the UK or the states or elsewhere? In music colleges or into all-encompasing universities or both? Do the remainder of these flute players get a place in university anyway or just a proportion or none? Are we talking university or a music scholarship for lessons/school for younger flautists? Are we talking full scholarships or a partial scholarship? In musical performance (on the flute) or for a general music degree but they happen to be flautists?

<<YOU GOTTA PRACTICE!

I can agree with that.

<<ALSO I`VE BEEN NOTICING A LOT OF GENDER CLASHES ON THIS FORUM...

There`s been `1` gender discussion.

<<FLUTES MAY BE CONSIDERED A MORE GIRLY INSTRUMENT, BUT IF ALL OF THE GUYS WENT AND PLAYED TUBA LIKE ALL OF THE FEMALES TO PORTRAY THEM TO, BANDS WOULD BE LIKE REALLY REALLY NO FUN TO LISTEN TO...ESPECIALLY IF ALL OF THE GIRLS WENT OFF AND PLAYED FLUTE.

This makes no sense...

<< IN MY BAND, THERE ARE 50% BOYS THAT PLAY FLUTE. AND NO ONE OFFENDS THEM!

Probably because there is a higher pecentage of male flautists... most bands have under 10% male influence (in my experience). Jokes are usually directed towards the minority. If you have an equal ratio of males to female then you don`t have a minority... hence, no poking fun at the males in your band.

<<SO ALL OF YALL NEED TO GET A LIFE AND GROW UP.

Like you need to learn how to disable `caps lock`.

Cherri... your input is valued... but you may as well be semi-polite about it... `shouting` really isn`t worth the effort and is very rude and is less likely to have the desired effect.

that was in no way meant to offend anyone...it did make sense...and i am talking about flute players in highschool...Isn`t that where you get a scholarship??? Anyway, if I did by any chance offend you...I am sorry. I LIKE to type in CAPS LOCK a lot...it`s just the way I like to type. I don`t need to learn to turn it off. YOU, however, need to learn to read between the lines, dear. You said 10% male flute players in your experience...well that`s in YOUR experience, like the 50% male flute players in MY experience. I was not being rude, I was trying to get my point across, Penny. And also...the `GENDER CLASING` thing...I meant that on the `1` discussion, there were a bunch of posts...Do you not understand that? Or do you like to get on here and talk people down because of the way they type?

<<Your input is valued, but you may as well be semi-polite about it. `shouting` isn`t really worth the effort, and is very rude and is less likely to have the desired effect.` HMMMM...THAT MAKES SENSE...IF YOU WERE TALKING TO THE RIGHT PERSON. DON`T JUDGE PEOPLE BEFORE YOU KNOW THEM. YOU MAY AS WELL BE SEMI-POLITE ABOUT THAT, PENNY. BESIDES, I HAVE SEEN YOU BASHING OTHER PEOPLE DOWN ON HERE, THEN CHANGING ALL SWEET. NO ONE REALLY KNOWS YOU! IT`S PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT MAKE OTHERS WANT TO RUN AND HIDE~
<< SO ALL OF YALL NEED TO GET A LIFE AND GROW UP...I WAS TALKING TO PEOPLE LIKE YOU! Cherri

Hey Cherri and Penny. We`re not going to go against each other, are we girls? The thing is, Penny, you like to confuse people beyond belife...therefore making the other person believe you and go along with what you`re saying. This is very wrong, because you are trying to get others to change their mind while you sit back and use big words to trick them. OBVIOUSLY, Cherri was correct when she was saying only one in 17 flute players get a scholarship. However, she didn`t say in the US, which is where that comes from. So I can see a `tiny, little, itty bit of confusion` there...unlike your confusing and totally wrong comment. Also, I believe she was also correct when saying that the players in HIGHSCHOOL get scholarships. Unless I`m mistaken, that is where you get scholarships, correct? Also, saying SCHOLARSHIP, doesn`t that mean FULL scholarship? If she would have said partial, then that would mean PARTIAL scholarship, also correct? You were rather rude to Cherri, and I think an apology is in your future for her. She has already apolgized to you, which you could see, if you could <<"Learn to read between the lines." When Cherri said <<So all of yall need to get a life and grow up....that was your cue, obviously, to just throw your last two cents in, wasn`t it?! I think you get on here to pick on people and just kick `em around a bit, huh? Wait, don`t answer that, I already know. And also...I think that you do need to grow up, or stop getting on these forums, Penny. No one wants negative input...I know this is a negative, but it`s for your own good, and several others` own good. People, people, let`s not have to keep writing these awful posts because of impoliteness. (PREVIOUS COMMENT DIRECTED TO EVERYONE) Please, don`t do these things anymore. If you have a comment, comment. But don`t COMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMENT! # 8TH NOTES FAN FOR `A LONG WHILE` Allie Parker

`Penny, you like to confuse people beyond belife...therefore making the other person believe you and go along with what you`re saying.`

Precisely what have I said that is either incorrect or indoctrinating?

`This is very wrong, because you are trying to get others to change their mind while you sit back and use big words to trick them.`

Now, you`re just being rediculous unless `University`, `college` and `all-encompassing` are less common phrases/words than I thought. My intention is to inform people... not `trick`.

`However, she didn`t say in the US, which is where that comes from.`

Which is where scholarships come from? This is very strange... I`m British and am on a college scholarship.

`unlike your confusing and totally wrong comment.`

Which one would that be?

`Also, I believe she was also correct when saying that the players in HIGHSCHOOL get scholarships.`

Perhaps in the states... however here we have extra-curricular scholarships(funding given by societies/clubs outside of school/college), high school scholarships(but only in private schools)and university scholarships. There may be a couple more but I`m not sure.

Also, saying SCHOLARSHIP, doesn`t that mean FULL scholarship?

Nope... `scholarship` can refer to both full and partial.

`You were rather rude to Cherri, and I think an apology is in your future for her.`

Indeed... I do apologise for my harsh attitude to all who have met it. As already mentioned in another thread... I totally lack patience and can be very cutting at times.

`I think you get on here to pick on people and just kick `em around a bit, huh?`

Not at all... I`m just concerned with getting people to consider all the facts before passing judgement in a situation. I can get really rather impatient if all the facts are not acknowledged.

`And also...I think that you do need to grow up, or stop getting on these forums, Penny.`

I`m quite mature thank you. Although people who have only met the `business` side of me may not think so as I like to get things done yesterday whether people like me or not. I`m actually a very pleasant and fun-loving person behind it... believe it or not.

Ok, this is what I meant. I MEANT that the US, I repeat, the USA has one in 17 flute players getting scholarships. And as far as I know when you say scholarship, it means full scholarship, and if you say partial it means PARTIAL scholarship. And I didn`t SAY that scholarships are ONLY from the US. I am not stupid. And also, MOST scholarships come from HIGHSCHOOL accomplishments. I have heard of very few people getting scholarships in college, and when they have it was because of something very different than highschool scholarships. I do suppose that different countries have different ways of giving scholarships and schooling. (Well I KNOW they do) However, the original message was a little confusing, but if you read it carefully, you can tell that it has to do with US students...and you can tell that it is directed toward US students if you live in the US. Most flute players I know (and this does not mean every single flute player in the world, Penny. Just trying to clear that up.) Know that 1-in-17-flute-players thing. <I`m quite mature, thank you> Ok, well I am sorry for saying that you weren`t. But as for saying you are mature, sometimes you seem a little less mature than you say you are in real life. <I totally lack patience> I have lack of it as well! I guess this whole post of arguments is a bunch of people lacking a sufficent amount of patience! Anyway...next time, I think we need to SPECIFY where we live, becuase we all know things differently if we live in different places! Allie Parker (#1 8 notes fan for life!)
