Yes, they are one of the best selling models. Good construction, nice sound and a good scale. (I'm not crazy about the split E options though in general as you may know.)
I rank the sound somewhere between an older muramatsu and new miyazawa to my style of playing. (I also prefer the gold riser in the headjoint, but that is my personal preference)
If you want an all britannia silver head, plated body it's a nice choice.
I also sell the 807's. They are only plated with a silver lip plate but quite nice also for a bit less money.
Setups are a bit better recently than they have been in the past. I would still have one checked over before buying it. I have found some pad problems even with the new stuff out of the box that needs some attention.

I have had a student purchase a 907, and it works well for her. Personally, I like flutes that have a little more color (more harmonics in the tone)...
They are well made, and, if set up properly, should be reliable.
My next comment is a little less "scientific", more of an observation: I find that the split E's on flutes that are <$3k sometimes aren't worth the extra trouble-- the extra trips to the repair tech to adjust. Make sure you need a split E before you get one...

Which flute would you recomend?,I have been given the option of an altus 907 with a Powell hj.,I need a versatile flute,I play Jazz,soul,funk,latin jazz and classical sometimes.I do not like flutes with too bright a sound,I like flutes with colour variation and a rich tone.

Firstly, this is all a matter of opinion...If you want a darker sounding flute try either a Haynes or Muramatsu. If you want many tones and colors, try a Powell. The Powell will be on the more brigh side though, so changing around the headjoint will fix this.
<Added>
Tones and colors are also a matter of opinion and you will get a different answer from person to person. Some people don't get the tone and color they seek on a Powell, while I do. Same goes for other models of course.

i own a solid silver muramatsu and i played it from about 10th grade through to about 6 months ago. i found that it had a lot of variation in the sound, ranging from a dark mysterious sound to a semi-bright sound (like not a tin can sound). its very colorful and i would recommend it over and over again. id at least try a muramatsu, probably the ex model (plated body, silver head). im sure youd be very pleased in your findings.
