wow this girl sucks. what kind of "expert" is she lol. don't u have to dust off the finger prints b4 polishing? and also where is cleaning the inside of the flute, where is using the key oil, where is the dollor bill? god she knows less about flutes than i do and i have to admit, i don't know much about flute lol.
Please God, tell me someone did not just mention the use of a dollar bill after all the posts on here about that. Please never use a dollar bill on your pads! You will ruin them further. Either use powderless pad paper available at some music stores, or online...or have your mom buy perm paper from a store...it works just as well.
This girl...I hate to say it...is pretty ignorant if she has played for 11 years.
Dennis, I think you need to go on there and make a video. Oooh.. better yet, maybe I should! If I had a better camera with better sound I would too. BTW, I am the one who posted under Fluteragious under the comments but I am sure everyone figured that out already. I mean.. who would be rude enough to set her straight like that? Hahaha!!!
powered paper can work well if you are careful with it in not flinging powder everywhere, including in your mechanism. powdered mechanism can equal bad news. cigarette paper also works, just tear off the gummed edge. i prefer the cigarette paper over everything because i find it the cheapest where i live and a bottle of rubbing alcohol has inhabited the medicine cabinet. lens cleanser wipes for glasses also seem to work well.
My nieces band director told the class to use dollar bills to clean sticky pads and the little smarty pants that she is, she told him "no, you use these" and she took out a sheet of pad paper I gave to her to properly use and then continued to demonstrate. She passed a bunch of them out to the flute section. I taught that girl right and she listens to everything!
thats good! maybe some band directors wont hastily hand out poor advice to unsuspecting kids who dont know any better. theyre probably brass players anyway...
