Hi
This post is in response to the other thread about this girl giving bad advice on Expert Village.
On that web site somebody commented on her flute being a Pearl "junk flute". I am quite sure that this person is a poster here.
Please explain! I thought that Pearl flutes were at par with Yamaha's 300 and 400 series and other well established step-up flutes.

That is probably a matter of opinion. I personally don't think they are made as well as Yamaha flutes but not junk either.

There are two distinctions of Pearl Flutes. There are the Taiwan flutes which are entry level through intermediate and there are the Japan flutes which are their pro level flutes. Dolce, Elegante, Maesta, Opera models...
Certainly they are not "junk" and certainly they are better than some yamaha flutes once you get to a particular level.

i think there are better flutes out there for the money, but the higher end models (such as NOT the quantz or coda) are pretty nice.

my Pearl Coda sounds pretty freaking amazing without the atrocity that is the stock headjoint on it. Of course, I have played on Pearl since I started...so I am used to all of the quirks. I like my flute better than a lot of flutes I tried at the Fair here in Florida. And after trying all of them, I still sounded the greatest on a Silver Maesta (the Gold one was 3rd). I'm not the fondest of Yamaha really, but I did play a Wood Yamaha that I liked...but that was 5th place in my string of flute fair trials. All depends on the player, but that chick from expertvillage.com doesn't play on a pro Pearl at all...the pros start around 3500 with no frills.

Now you know that is a bunch of BS! You were very close to buying a Powell Aurumite from what you told me. If you like your Pearl over those handmade Powells then I can only wonder what the Jack Moore is going to be like. Eeek! lolololol!!!
