so i got home from music camp and i sound TERRIBLE.
practicing is painful because my tone is so awful.
i suspect it has something to do with playing in band for six hours every day.
i dont know what to do.
im just upset and irritated.

I suggest to take some rest and check again in two days. Or could it be your flute got some problem? (leaking pads, other)?

Jose is correct, clear your head, work on long tones, someday when you play in a really good band or orchestra, the opposite will take place..

Something my professor has told me is that there will be times that you attain a goal and feel fantastic about yourself...but if you don't play that well the next time, you feel like you suck. She says that your expectations get higher when reach that level, and that's it. The better you get, the more and higher expectations you have. That could be a possibility also.

Like Joes said, take a brake.
try getting relexed, also take short brakes while practising.

you have to make sure they are good if you're going to take short ones often...you never know when they will give out.

the lesson here is to try as best you can to surround yourself with good musicians, you will tend to go up to their level, the opposite may happen if you hang out with lazy hacks..

I know that my teacher says it's better to take a lot of little practices than one long one. I have experienced that too. After so long, my air starts to get to slower and slower and better you know it I'm am unable to play. But if I do get tired he lets me take a brake every now and then.

I would practice but I forgot where I left my flute....

On my band teacher's wall, a poster...my favorite of all time!

Conductor's Practice Advice:
Practice only on the days you eat!

I would have gone to camp but I was afraid I would forget my flute, so I stayed home and looked for it...still can't find the darn thing...

I'd say that's some good advice, but I'd go one further and say practice even more on the days you don't eat! I did a fast for five days a while ago and I found that my lung capacity increased dramatically, and I was even able to hold my breath for 2 minutes 40 seconds, and normally I only manage about a minute and a half
