I was browsing through the flute ebay auctions, as I do periodically, and came across an auction for a vintage haynes with the serial number buffed off. In the picture the numbers are still faintly legible. Seem suspicious?

I would be very reluctant to bid on an item where either the serial number has been removed or the view of that number was photo-shopped clean. If I did buy that kind of merchandise, I'd not be suprised if my insurance company wouldn't insure the thing.
