I'd say that flute fairs and festivals are a great place to try out instruments and get music.

Dear Arabians:

Did you end up getting your flute?

Would be interested in knowing your selection.

If you live in Eastern Iowa, there are three very fine music stores in Chicago, wherein you can try out several different "high-end" flutes, side-by-side, which (IMO)is the only to buy a flute --- since each one is going to be different.

IF you were to have a flute "sent to you for trial" --- that flute may NOT be the instrument you're looking for. Then, you send it back, and wait for another, etc., and on and on.

If you're coming from Iowa, you're close enough to Chicago to make the trip worth your while. Especialy when you're talking a "high-end" flute such as Pearl.

Best luck.

Regards, Jim
