On average, how much does a used piccolo cost? And which brand is the best? I own a Jupiter flute and was wondering if they made piccolos as well because so far Jupiter has worked wonderfully. Thanks. =)
<Added>
Also, what is the lowest/highest note it can play? I have gotten a below the staff C out on flute up to a 4th octave D. I know piccolo can go ridiculously high as well but I'm just curious...=)

The piccolo sound an octave higher but you play it as written unless indicated to be 8va or 8va basso (of course).
The lowest note is a low D and it can easily go up to the very high C4 or maybe higher depending upon the instrument and the player. Although....why anyone would want to go that high.
The price of a used instrument depends upon the seller.
My Picc is a bad instrument but used it cost $35. Good enough for a marching band.

Jupiter makes decent piccolos, but I personally think there are better instruments on the market. Just because you like the flutes doesn't mean you'll like the piccolos, as they're very different beasts. The same goes with alto and bass flutes, etc. The name on the instrument matters not at all...It's all about how it performs for you.
Now, pricewise, the material, model, brand, age, condition, etc. all play into the cost of a used instrument, so without an idea of which models you're considering, we can't even provide an accurate average price range.
If you can tell us what you'll be using the piccolo for (marching, concert, or some combination?), as well as your budget, we can probably provide some suggestions for makes and models to look into.

I was going to use it for both marching, concert, and some stuff at home(solos). As for my budget, probably 800 dollars maximum. It's for Christmas this year and we have a lot of medical bills coming in due to a surgery in the family so 800 would be the max and also the only thing I would get. But hey, I'm simple. Gimme a piccolo and I'm good. jk. =D

i got my piccolo for 150 dollars. i would recomend a Gemeinhardt 4SP because they are really reliable to get a good sound outside and inside. i have the Gemeinhardt C(the older model of the Gemeinhardt 4SP) and i really love it alot. for a list of most piccolos try www.fluteworld.com.

I would give a used Yamaha YPC32, a shot. They are well made, with good intonation.

My (new last January) Yamaha YPC-32 was $630 or something like that. (Off the internet its MUCH more expensive..) The scale on it isn't great.. but it, or I have gotten much better keeping it in tune. I was fighting it all the time when i first got it, but during the last marching season I wasn't having any trouble at all keeping it in tune.
I was also looking at an (10 year) Gemeinhardt piccolo that was being sold for $250 (although I think it was slightly over priced, and she probably would have taken less for it) which were pretty equally matched. I picked the Yamaha over it since we didn't want to end up spending more money in the long run with the older piccolo then with the Yamaha. I don't think I really like the metal head (pretty shrill) If I ever get another piccolo, I don't think I will get one with a metal head..

You are not alone with fighting the tuning on Yamaha piccolos. I used to own a couple of them and was so glad to get rid of them because the scale was so horrible!

If the music stores don't have the kind of piccolo I am looking for or just don't have it, are there any good sites to go to that are trustworthy with their products?

If you're using it for outside and inside, I would go with plastic...metal ones are too shrill and wood ones will interact with the weather if you use it for outside playing.
