when i plsy most higher up notes and try sustain them i get a high pitch whistle vibrating from my head joint (i know its my flute as i tryed my sisters flute and did the same things but the whistle wasn't there) but the strange thing is, that it doesn't happen all the time, i am realy confused as to what to do, and i need to get it sorted before i take my grade 1 exam in juneish
unfotutly a lot of tymes that is whut happns with off brand flts nd that is why we dont recommmend them here on the board get yourself a decent flt if u can or try and get it looked at by a repair tech it may be something simple but chances are they will refuse to work on it becuz it is not a name brand flt they are funny that way becuz sometimes those flutes literaly will fall apart once they are tried to be taken apart and just dont go back the same way if u know what i mean it can be a real pain and no fun at all for the repair tech pluss they will be lieble for it and i am sure they dont want to have that on thier hands but then maybe they will just try selling u a bter flt in the proces whoo knows
I don't know what flute you have, so I cannot comment on what Kara wrote, other than to say that in my experience, having worked on over 120 brands of flute, any problem in the head that causes this sort of thing is normally easily corrected.
The folowing can contribute to strange effects:
1. The crown is slightly loose and vibrating against the flute body.
2. the nut at the end of teh crown cork could be loose and similarly vibrating.
3. The crown cork does not seal well, especially at the embouchure-hole end.
thanks for the insite i am getting the number for a flute repair tech tonight and am going to get him to take a look at it and hope he will fix it for me
