Just curious to see if anyone in here had any personal experiences with the repair school in Red Wing, MN. While browsing flute videos this afternoon, I noticed that someone (possibly Lucas?) made a video on YT advertising the school and thought the topic may be good to discuss for anyone contemplating pursuing a career in the repair field, etc.
check out the Landell Flute Co. in VT, that is where Joe B. learned his craft, Landell is one of the best anywhere, and he holds a summer repair workshop...
I was contemplating that last year, actually. I completely forgot about it (see how much I looked into it?! *smacks self*)! I heard it's supposed to be decent. A HELLUVA lot more decent than the aforementioned, I'd wager! =)
Red Wing has a good solid program for learning musical instrument repair. They just got done expanding and remodeling their teaching shops. Anyone interested in that field as a career should give the few trade schools that have courses in instrument repair some consideration.

As far as comparing Landell's course to Red Wing or any other school, its apples and oranges. The Landell courses are strictly for flute--and only high end flutes at that. The repair schools such as Red Wing (Winona State) or Renton teach comprehensive courses in all instruments.
Also, repairing instruments is a practiced profession much like performing. If you don't use it you lose it.
