okay, so here's the situation: I have a flute recital tomorrow, and all of a sudden, my flute's gone screwy. My high D and low C# aren't working right. The note comes out, but it sounds VERY wrong. Please help me before tomorrow!!!!
it could be a loose post, make sure the posts are securely screwed on, it could also just be a displaced spring...check to make sure the springs are in the right place...
well it can also be your embroshure(SP?). I lost my sound today morning but I was kind of nervouse (Practising in a hotell room)so I kindof tightned my lips.
LOL I shuld get some sleep I have to wake up early tomorow.
MIcron, I didn't mean post, my mistake, I meant the rods, many times I have a student who will complain about a note not speaking only to find out that it is due to this...
After you swab your flute, there is still likely to be moisture:
- Within the surface of the pad membrane
- Held by capilary action where the closed pads contact their tone holes.
- Where the crown cork meets the metal end and the head tube.
- In the tiny nooks and crannies around pad screws, pad washers,
- The groove inside the instrument where the tenon receivers are soldered onto the body tubing.
- In the small, exposed area of the crown cork itself.
- In the embouchure hole chimney itself.
Unless you make a conscious effort to attend to all these difficult-to-access areas. For many of these areas,if you go to the trouble to dry them thoroughly, you will probably do more harm than good.
