I've noticed all around 8notes that someone will originate a post, get the answers and never respond regarding whether or not the answers that many people took the time to write even helped out or not. Take the Gemeinhardt Brio! thread for example. Some rep. from Gemeinhardt wrote a lengthy message but never responded to any of the messages following theirs.
Do you think it's because they A. don't care, B. have their info they needed and just keep the topic open since it was never ended by the author or C. because they don't click the 'Email notification of replies' button (or just don't care)?
Kind of strange and annoying in my opinion *shrug* but that would help with old topics popping back up when people were asking for help on something and never responded concluding whether anything was any help. Seems logical enough...
I think one reason may be that they start the same thread in several forums, get answers and discussion that they like in one or more of those, and lose interest in going back to the rest.
I have often seen posts here repeated on SOTW (saxontheweb), where there is likely to a much more varied response, from a wider catchment of people. Although they do not all frequent the flute area, the forum has over 5000 active members, and something like 20000 members. As I understand it, claimed as the world's largest forum.
