Well the topic is pretty self-explanitory. I haven't named my flute but I'm hoping to after hearing everyone's ideas!!! My alto saxophone's name is Rusty(he's been marched with . But enough about saxophone's, lets hear your creative names!!!
Here's a short list of some of my previous instruments' names:
Pearl handmade flute (was gold plated on all but keys): Goldilocks
Gemeinhardt M2: Senora Piece of Sh!t
Gemeinhardt 4PSH: Neggy
Antique rosewood fife in Bb: Rosy
Geo. Cloos 2-piece metal fife in Bb: George
Pearl 665RBE Quantz-Code: Pearly
Pan American 'Special' metal clarinet in Bb: Hi-Ho (short for Hi-Ho Silver!)
Brua C. Keefer satin silver alto sax w/ gold wash bell (actually made by Conn): Keefer
I have more written on a list somewhere but maybe that will give you an example =)
Hey, MY piccolo is named Lillian. Though maybe I should change its name to Lilli-Zen. Its a Zentner with a Lillian Burkhart HJ on it.
My silver piccolo is Fleur, for the flowers I engraved on the hand-splint things.
My flutes don't have names, but my Grenadilla wood headjoint is M'Pingo which is Swahili for Grenadilla tree.
My old, crappy student model Armstrong is named Mary, Queen of Scots because my brother sat on her once when I was in fifth grade and she had a huge ding in the head joint -- just like her namesake, who was beheaded!
My Muramatsu was named Andromeda, simply because I like the name, but I had to send her back to the manufacturer out of an inability to pay. :[
Friends and I did this in Band. Our instruments are mostly named after disney princes. My flute is Prince Charming, But I generally refer to it as charming. The others (Clarinets) Are Prince Eric, Joe Aladin, and I forget the third one. And my Violin (when I had one) Was Splendid the Violin.
