YFL-211 is quite common (but not in USA, because it has a split E).
I have seldom if ever seen on this model a suffix "S" to denote silver plating.
A sufix "N" can denote nickle plating, which is not common.
A suffix SII in "YFL221 SII" denotes "series 2" which superceded the YFL-211.
So I don't think this is a fake.

I don't think it's a fake. I've seen them without additional letters. I used to own one, too! That case is different than what I'd expect, but it might be a British thing.

Hi..
I've got the same flute,,i bought it new about 8-9 months ago from a yamaha dealer,,so its a real one.
The markings on the front say,, Yahama, 211, made in japan.
The serial number starts with a C then 5 numbers.
The case is the same,,hard black plastic, lined with a burgundy type "felt".
I was told that it was the new model which replaced the 211UK,, then this model the 211 was,,replaced by the 211ID, which is made in Indoneasea....so its the last model to come from Japan.
So, maybe it was done for the uk market..
Hope this helps a bit..
Mark.
