So before a lot of competitons, try-outs, performences, or just difficult practices either flute related or athletic I get a lot of comfort from breathing exercises. They calm me down and in many cases make me perform better.
My question is could any of you suggest some good breathing exercises or a website that could do the same thing.
Any other ways to relax before/during/after a performance or try-out is of course extremely welcome.

I don't know about breathing exercises, but I just take deep breaths.
If your mouth dries out kind of lightly chewing on the inside of your cheeks helps to make more saliva.(that sounds funny, but you get what I mean, right?)

Inhale for 4 counts, hold for 4 counts, exhale for 4 counts, don't breathe for 4 counts. Repeat for 15 minutes. When that becomes easy, up the count to 5, 6, etc. It's quite relaxing so you might like it.

IMHO, one of the best ways to develop your breathing capacity is to study Yoga or Alexander or TaiChi or Feldenkreis, which is what I studied...these activities help loosen up tense muscles which frees up the breathing capacity
