I am a member of a group that is very mixed. A lot of people bring their children. We dress up and wear funny outfits. The kids don't care what the men are wearing or how they act. (Or the women) They only think something wrong if someone tells them it is wrong.

I think that the origional poster is correct in telling everyone what kind of group it is. If someone is that closed minded, they might not want their teens auditioning for the group. They themselves might not want to be in the group.

I have plenty of friends who are not straight who are great parents. And their kids are good, well behaved children who love and accept anyone.

To the first person that complained, your kids probably already know more than you think. Maybe you should educate them they way you think they should think so that they don't stray from your beliefs. Believe me. It works really well. That's why I am not a religious fanatic like the rest of my family and I have friends who are not straight.

Another group I was in recently had some person want to come and audition for the band. Due to some kind of religion, they coundn't play any patriotic songs or songs about God. I hate to break it to that person, but most of the classical music was written to praise God. Needless to say, he couldn't join the college wind ensemble.

To the origional poster. I hope you find some good people to fill in your flute section. I would love to audtion if I lived in the DC area.

^ Very good points! I think that it's great to be open minded! In music you HAVE to be open minded about things. All people in orchestras are different, in fact all instruments are different, all music is different, and even the composers are all different. If you narrow your vision too much there's really no spot for you in music.

I don't know about you but I am going to teach my youngest that he should only date little boys. It's the thing to do. In fact, we are going to start a band for Lesbian little girls. Never too young to start, right? I better get off here so that I can start training by boy to play with barbies. Hey, if the world thinks it is all okay, then it must be.

No one is promoting ANYTHING! TC is on a FLUTE forum asking if anyone wants to audition on FLUTE into a band that just happens to be part of LGBT. And excuse me filth? All you need is an open mind. Theres nothing that says that homosexuality is the ONLY way. Right now you are putting yourself out as a "Heterosexuality is the ONLY way to go". It's fine if you think that but other people don't.

It was not my intent to promote hatred. I never once said that I had a problem with g@ys. All I simply requested is that this subject not be brought onto a flute forum. I am sorry that you see that as being full of hate. I don't know why everyone is being so jumpy in the first place. It was a simple request and I do have the right to feel or request that. If you think it is okay then fine, you have a right to your opinion but no need to come after me for it. When politics are involved it is clear that we will have many different and many strong opinions on things. I just feel that politics should be kept out of a forum like this as it only promotes bickering. If my child turned out to be !*****! then I would still love her no matter what. It happens. I have never seen a band promoting only heterosexual people. Why the special treatment. It is almost treated as a disease which is sad.
