I had played the flute for 2 years and i am requested to change my flute.
Between Altus A807 or Yamaha flute 381 can i ask which flute is better? As in which is easier to play and which have a better sound.

I would go for the Altus personally but that is your decision. You have to try out both and see what you like. What are you playing on now and why were you told that you needed to upgrade?

I'm afraid i can't help you on the altus 807, except to say that i've just bought the Altus 1007, and its a great flute, i love it.
I upgraded from a Yahama 211, which i believe a 381 is not that far away from. The difference is amazing between the two.
My money would be with the 807, but try them both to see which one suits you,,, i tried about 12 different flutes, but the 1007 was my flute, it just felt right and sounded right...

Just try them both.. hope that helps..

I played a 381 for 4 years, now I have upgraded to the yamaha 674. The 381 will not take you very far! from my experience, its a tough rugged flute built like a tank! but as for its tone and keys and response is not so good as you advance. Go for the Altus if you have no other choice!
