I was browsing some James Galway videos on YouTube today and I came across him performing "Annie's Song". I was wondering if anyone knew where to find the version he is playing. I've found the vocal part and such (which I wouldn't mind playing) but his version sounds like it has more "fluff" to it.

This is the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkUpto_ohEc

Thank you.

You could always add your own fluff to the vocal version

If I'm not mistaken,
This (original performer/composer's version) is in the same key as Sir James' version:

Finding the notes to this tune in a key like D major isn't very difficult and is a good exercise for a musician.
If you are also looking for the accompaniment, them see mark68's post.

At the time of the popularity of this song, it was performed by many musicians like:

Bilbo raises a good point, even though i have the music my teacher got me to learn it by listening to it. I never looked at the music till afterwards.
Its not too bad to learn,,And as Bilbo said it's good practice too.

The first page of the piece, in D major and arranged for voice + guitar can be seen, for free, here:

http://www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtd.asp?ppn=mn0042637

The complete file can be downloaded from the same site, with a moderate payment.

It's a good start to complete the song by ear and practise this technique. The tune is on the voice staff, of course.

This page is nice as it allows to transpose down (or up), to better fit your voice. Not all of us can sing like John Denver...

There are other online files I have seen in the same key but for voice+piano, but I forgot where.

Not sure, but you may require the Scorch plug-in be installed in your browser. It so, is should be available at the same site

Okay. Thank you all very much. I'll look into trying the different techniques you guys mentioned and if I give up on it, I'll just buy the piece. Thanks again!

mark68, I looked up your version and played through the "look inside" page. It's not the right song but it is pretty...unless I'm just playing the rhythms totally wrong which is quite possible haha Thank you though.

Okay, I feel completely stupid now. The book has a collection of songs. Please scratch that last edit. I thought the book just had one song. I apologize.

Congrats Moogi, I see you have good and helpful friends everywhere. Interesting site, Dr Anderson's, with heaps of music of all sorts.

You could ask him to post or send you the accompaniment only (I believe he made it with some music notation SW so this would be simple task). Maybe a little slower would help you to learn the song.

He made his own arrangement and (not sure about these issues), he could send you (legally)a copy of it for you to play. It would be the best solution as you could also have the accompaniment.

Good luck!
