8. Ibert Flute Concerto
6. Liebermann Flute Concerto
5. Reinecke Flute Concerto
4. Syrinx - Debussy
3. Prelude to an Afternoon of a Faun - Debussy
2. Prokofiev Peter and the Wolf
1. Telemann Canonic Sonatas (These are really fun)

I like Jason's list but would also add Mozart's Concerto in G, and the Flute and Harp Concerto. Have performed both with an orchestra.

Beethoven #7 is also a lot of fun.

how can one say what the "best" songs are? The topic is extremely subjective

While of course there are no "best" pieces for flute, everyone is entitled to personal favorites!

I would have to agree with everything that's already been said, and add the Chaminade Concertina, the Barber Canzone, the Sonata by Poulenc.

I've also enjoyed playing the Bach partita for flute, as well as the Handel sonatas.
