You can put a little piece of tape on that part of the headjoint... My gemeinhardt picc does that too... weird.

A properly equipped repair technician has specialised tools for adjusting the fit.

If there is enough room for tape (!!!) then the white teflon plumbers tape, available from any hardware store or plumbers supply place, is far better than using any form of adhesive tape.

1. It is far too thick to make adjustments for fit, hence air-tightness.
2. The glue of many such tapes is released by water.
3. You would have to apply an exact number of complete turns in order not to retain some leaks.

The teflon tape is far, far better. Your teacher is obviously not aware of this fix. Teachers do not know everything, you know, especially when it comes to mechanical function of an instrument.

BTW, does the tenon (the `plug` part) have cork on it? In this case it is very cheap to simply get the cork replaced. If not, it is very strange and unusual that the joint should be so loose. I wonder if the head has been switched at some time, with another - To have space for scotch tape could not happen by normal use or wear on a piccolo (it could on the lower joint of a flute), and for an instrument of reasonable quality, it would not have been made that loose.
