It`s great that you`re starting flute, I`ve had a little experience with reed instruments and I think that flute is easier to play than them. It`s probably easier to play too since you already play a wind instrument, so you will probably support your sound well. Just try blowing into it for awhile until you get sound, and start easy. Blow a focused stream of air into your flute which will help with your tone. Also make sure you don`t roll your flute in or out too much. I`m sure you know the flute is in a different key than clarinet and saxophone, so it may be a little difficult to transpose all of the time. One thing to do is to not support your flute on your shoulder and not drop it too low. In the middle of the flute keys are little circles and like clarinet you want to keep your fingers in the circle for good hand positions but unless you get an advanced flute you don`t really have to worry about covering the holes! I guess that is really all I can think of for someone beginning flute, Good Luck

Before you start playing, it`s a really good idea to start with scales and warm ups. It gets your lips and fingers moving and the flute warmed up. It also helps you get out those high notes and make them sound better! For the low notes try to aim your air stream down and relax your lips, for the high notes you soft of `pucker` and make your air stream directed straight across the hole. After awhile it just becomes natural- but only if you practice! I`m sure you can do it! Good Luck!

really learn your scales any instrument if you want to be good and go places you must learn your scales and work on getting a real vibrant sound and dont ever hold back on flute i say if it says play piano dont go lower than MP trying to play to soft will make your sound go flat always put enough air through the horn
