True, and if you have a really old Powell with a Bb footjoint. My professor went to a masterclass where a player had an A footjoint, but the flute was all in one piece. You can also buy an altoflote or bass for a couple of thousand dollars .. :-)

- Put a cork in the end and finger low C. If the flute has no leaks, and your embouchure is good, and you blow very gently, you can get a C an octave below.
- Add some sort of tubing (plastic hose?) to the end and finger low C.
