I really don't get why you don't ask him why he didn't choose you! Otherwise you will never know...

Alot of times it has to do with attitude or responsibility. We had 1st trombone in state at our highschool but he was constantly passed over for gigs because he had problems with punctuality. Also, he tended to be arrogant and that doesn't go over well. No one wants to work with someone who isn't humble.

On a lighter note, it could just be that you weren't in class the day he picked people and you can't always wait on someone's answer. For all he knew you could've been busy that week or something.

Based on the arrogant tone of your post i would assume its got something to do with your attitude.

I kind of feel like you do...I'm a freshman in high school there are kids in our school's band that really don't belong there. They just don't ever shut up and always screw around. They make our director mad sometimes. I don't practice as much as I should, but I really like band and actually care and get sick of these people. At least we sound pretty good.

I also auditioned for and got into wind ensemble (the "highest" band at our school, mostly juniors and seniors) just so I don't have to be with these same people in symphonic band (sophomores).
