do i need to transpose this piece in order for a piano/clarinet melody to sound okay???to me it seems like it work but my piano player says it would sound better if the clarinet was in G and the piano was in F. Is he right? Is there any software i can use to write out the new transpoition either cause i cant remember its name...
Well... The clarinet and the piano part is in the same key, so you have to change one of them. I don't see why you're piano teacher want you to change both of them. I know there's plenty of programs to change it in, but then you have to have the old part in the program, so it would probably be easier just to write it yourself. And a good lesson as well
Actually it's quite easy to do it yourself. You just have to move the clarinet part one hole tone up. This scale:
Bb->C
C->D
D->E
Eb->F
F->G
G->A
A->B
Notice that the clarinet part is without any flats at all. If you have a piano to look at (our just a drawing of it - and of course know what the different keys are), then it's even more easy.
Your piano teacher should be able to play his part transposed just by looking at it, but it depends on how good (s)he is
Cool thanks Ida...although any key signature is grand for me to play from my experiences of playing in youth orchestras. See i'm clueless to the piano but my teacher is good enough but i just dont want him to go to too much trouble for accompanying me,you know? Everything should work out hopefully....much appreciated
