I played "Menuet" from divertimento in D, K334 by Mozart for solo ensemble last year. it's a grade 5 piece. It was challenging,(it's a clarinet solo, and i played it on bass... it was rather higher than i play most of the time) but it sounds good and the trio is impressive if you get it right. do check to see if there's a list of allowed pieces, though- it would be horrible to get htere and realize your piece wasn't approved.
exactly how advanced of a solo are you looking for. There is the Mozart Concerto K.622 Thats always a good choice. Then there's Weber Concertino or First or Second Clarinet Concertos or his Introduction, Theme and Variations. There is the Giacchino Rossini Introduction, Theme, and Variations. Then theres the ever-interesting Copland Concerto. Just to name a few
Well you can always go for Adagio and Tarantella By Cavallini or Finzi's Five Bagatelles or Concerto... If you need something challenging go for Sphor Concertoes ( 1 2 3 4 ) Mozarts Clarinet Concerto.... Saint-Saens Sonata or Hindemith Sonata or Concerto... Tried the Poulenc Sonata?... Just a few suggestions.. need more PM me Cheers Musio4fun
