Hi forum, I have just bought my first wooden clarinet, a Buffet R13. Can anyone give me any tips how to best keep it and prevent cracks. Are the pads that stay in the clarinet when in its case a good thing - have heard varying reports.Seller told me to play for only 20mins per day for a start. When can this be built up? Any advice gratefully received.

Bore oil every 6 months (just an opinion). Use key oil. Leave case open at home when not in use.

don't leave the case open at home unless you have a VERY safe place for it. if, say, you have a dog, this is a recipe for disaster.
