About 10 years ago I bought a clarinet off my friend for $50. It's been fatally wounded recently and I had to put it down. I'm in the market for a new clarinet, although I haven't played in a while. I'm not a professional.
So I want something CHEAP - I'm not too concerned with it's tone. I'll worry about that if I get my chops back in order and follow through with practicing, etc. I just want something that won't fall apart and that's not a piece of crap. Definitely under $1000, preferably around $300.
I found a Suzuki clarinet on Amazon for $200, but from what I'm seeing on the forum, Suzuki doesn't make a reliable instrument, although I couldn't find any comments specifically on the Suzuki clarinet. Again, not a professional, not worried about sound and all those great nuances, I just want a normal clarinet that won't fall apart after a month. I don't want to spend $200 on a clarinet, and then another $200 to put the keys back on after a few months.
Any reliable instruments to recommend?
Thanks!

I would recommend a Selmer "Bundy" model. Selmer is a good reliable maker. The Bundy is made of a strong plastic resin and it will withstand a lot of abuse. I use one for daily practice to save wear and tear on my better wooden one. Good luck.
