Well, I'm trying out for a band for school, I play Clarinet...we're supost to play "Holly Jolly Christmas" but in the band arrangement...the thing is... I play all the notes correctly, and I play it the correct speed...yet it DOSN'T sound like "HollY Jolly Christmas" at all :S.
Is it supost to sound that way? D: I need answers ASAP because the tryouts are tommorrow :S

Could you possibly have a different part? Usually in band there will be 3-4 different clarinet parts and some will be a side melody to go along with the other clarinet part or possibly another instrument part that sounds like the classic "holly jolly christmas"

Which part do you have? Clarinet 2 or 3?

The clarinet does not always hold the melody.

Its true on what ever the other two said. Not all part have melody so dont be afraid of getting it wrong. You can have something else for background. Dont think your wrong when your positive of yourself.
