Hello, I was wondering how would I apply the oil to my clarinet? I have the basic idea, but how often? will just once be ok for a couple of months?
Thanks

You can buy oiling rods, from music shops or mail order eg http://www.naylors-woodwind-repair.com/orderformProds.htm

Depends on the weather/climatic conditions where you are on how often you need to re oil the bore.
Also depends how new the instrument is.

If you are in a hot very dry area(low humidity)
or if you are in a hot and damp environment you will need to oil the bore more often.

Problem there is a lot of contradictory information out there.
Some says you need to oil every week, others once a year.

Have a look at the manufacturers instructions.
If not sure talk to a local repair tech or music shop.

You only need to oil wooden clarinets(just making sure).

For years, I used bore oil once a month. The last few years many pros say you should NEVER use bore oil as it muffles the tone after a long while. I do it once every 6 months now. There must be a reason they sell the stuff. Who knows?

I oiled my boar last week. Should I hadn't did that?

It muffled him pretty good for a couple days but now he's squealin' again already.

IMHO, oiling that thing didn't do much except make him silky smooth for a couple days. Gotta say; I didn't mind.

Once a year about. Six months at the complete most. i've been told to just use a soft cloth like a spare spit rag and put the oil on that and run it through the clarinet. I have to do mine in a few months :\
