can someone tell me the difference between mpingo and grenadilla?

the difference is the language.

a quick google search tells me that they are teh same thing- mpingo is the native word for it, as it comes from africa.

Grenadilla wood is a VERY common musical instrument material however you have to be careful nowadays as the cheaper instruments have been manufactured with wood that's not properly aged. Wood that's not properly aged is more prone to cracking. Happy clarineting + Happy Holidays!! -S
