Also, different brands of reeds have different stiffnesses. Don't expect them to be all the same. And don't judge how good a player is on how thick there reed is! Also, the thicker the reed, the better it usually sounds, but not always. With stiffer reeds you can make high notes sound wonderful, but your low notes will suffer a bit. You should maybe ask at a music shop to buy a few individual reeds to try and see what brand and thickness you like. 2-2.5s are usually best for beginners, but when I started playing clarinet from already playing bass clarinet, I could use a 2.5 on my bass clarinet but only about a 1.5 on my clarinet. You may also want to consider breaking in the reed before judging how good it is.

Thanks Guys!
What do you mean by "stiffer"?
Also, I am currently using reeds #2 and i can the low notes, up to A5, but when I try to play notes higher than A5, I have problems, is that normal?

It is true that reeds to have a lot to do with your tone but becuase you;re just learning how to play some of your notes are goign to sound weird, or they might not even sound at all. When I started playign I started out on a 2.5 and I played on that for about a year and a half then moved up to a 3, not I play either a 3.5 or a 4 depending on the song I am trying to play.
What we mean by stiffness in a reed is how hard it is to get it to vibrate, because the vibration of your reed is what makes the music, literally. So as you go up in thickness the harder your reed is to vibrate but your tone will be better, its kinda a win lose situation. I wish you luck but I would honestly start at a 2.5 it'll be harder but your tone will improve immensely. Good luck if you have any questions message me.
