Clarinet Tone Help Please!

So I have been playing bass clrinet for several years now, having switched when I was 12, and I recently have been trying to play my clarinet more. Problem is that my tone is terrible. i have been told that I sound like a tug boat. So does anyone have any tips on how i could improve my tone?

What mouthpiece, reed, and ligature combination are you using? My bass clarinet playing always reminded me of a semi-truck for some reason! =) Is your clarinet leaking anywhere?

Well,
I started off on bass clarinet, and picked up clarinet about 6 months ago.
My bass clarinet tone is WAY better then my clarinet tone. My clarinet sounds spitty, ugly and I dont really like it.
=/
Haven't found a sollutuion yet.
