Each year my high school holds a swing dance to raise money for the band.(Yey) A lot of the swing music has clarinet solos, I got the clarinet part for an Artie Shaw song called Traffic Jam (http://www.deezer.com/track/traffic-jam-T1371927 encase you want to listen to Artie play it). I can do the gliss and most of the notes but there is a particular section where he fiddles around near double high C. I cant consistently hit that C. So I was wondering what the best way to practice hitting that note is, what should I focus on. Are there tricks for getting it out? Whats the best way to get it in tune. I REALLY don't want to take it down an octave. Basically are there any special things I should do to get it out comfortably and what should I do to practice it, because my attempts now just end up frying my lip in a couple minutes.

That's a tough one. Usual advice may be to use a #3-5 reed. One thing I have found is that it is much easier to go from B to C than from Bb to B. If you can tongue (or slur....)Bb to B, then B to C is a piece of cake. You may try going from G to C with the same "1 & 1" fingering.
