Hello forum members:

I am planning on beginning clarinet lessons in the coming New Year. The music store near me can provide a clarinet for rent with the option to buy. They can provide either a Buffet E11 or Selmer ( I do not recall the model number ). Any thoughts on this approach. Thank you.

I imagine the Selmer will be Selmer USA (not France) in which case I'd go for the Buffet.

I agree! You should definetly rent the Buffet! If you get far on the clarinet, and need a new one, look up Buffet on the Internet, and in music shops! However, it may not be for you! I actually tried the R-13 and hated it!!! It felt restricting! I now have a B&H Imperial 926 and it's tone and depth is gorgeous! So remember to try each one first, before you decide!

Yes, defiantly go for the Buffet. One of my friends bought one and she sounds like a pro! It's sounds better and is easier to play than a Selmer. Have a Merry Christmas!

Pyface and InstrumentCrazy:

Thank you also for your reply. I will be starting my lessons 1st week of January. The music store where I will be taking my lessons will be renting me a Buffet E-11. I'm looking forward to my new adventure.

Good holiday to you all.
