Dont worry about college audtions, most of the time if you are an oboist you can just get accepted into the band sometimes without even an audtion because oboes are needed, I play oboe/english horn/bassoon and just because of that im practically being begged to play in my colleges bands! So usually you are needed and not really cut because of an audition, but sometimes it does happen as well but not usually. Sometimes scholarships are even availiable just because u play the oboe!

As a matter of fact, if you are even half way decent. An oboist has a pick for what ever college will pay your way. My suggestion. if your not good. decide to become good. The I V. League schools will get you in, but you have to be good. Don`t be an average oboist. At least if you never play professionally, at least you got your college degree for what ever paid for.
