i have played oboe for about 4 years now but suddenly i cant play it anymore....could me getting braces have done this too me or wat....my embochure is so messed up and idk wat to do help!!!

No i rele dont think it is yor braces because i got my braces recently to and tht didnt hav NE affect.

I don`t play oboe but I do play bassoon, and I do think your new braces could have affected your embouchure. There really is no other explanation if you had no trouble with it "going off" before. Are you still taking lessons? If so, I would get your teacher to evaluate the problem. If you aren`t, maybe there is someone familiar with oboe in your school or town who could help you on a short-time basis. If not, you may have to develop a whole new embouchure taking the braces into account.

Generally, getting braces ruins everyones embousure, but that should prevent u from playing your oboe. Try purchasing a new reed, or get braces with softer brackets so that u can resume back to your playing. I play clarinet and it made a heck of a difference.
