Can any one tell me where I can find out about a serial number on a Loree Oboe? I have checked "www.floree.com" but it is under construction. Will the serial number tell me how old the oboe is?

Has anyone tried Bulgheroni or Patricola? Fantastic oboes they make! Fossati is wonderful too! I play on a Patrcola Professional S6 oboe and it`s the best oboe I`ve played so far as compared to the Loree and Marigaux I had! Bulgheroni makes beautiful oboes. Tried a couple of them. Dark centred tone.

I have a Selmer. It`s awful. My oboe teacher recently got a YOB-831 (Yamaha), and it`s great.

Hi can anyone give me an opion on Boosey and Hawkes` oboes? It would be played by a beginner. How much would you pay for one (please include what currency your in). The auction doesn`t say what model number it is, but its in `excellent` condition apparently. It also says its made of `resonite`??? Please any opinion would be appreciated

I am looking into buying a Bulgheroni oboe. Has anyone you know bought one of them?
I tried one at a conference and I loved it, but it was only one instrument.
Please let me know.

Thanks

How about an Armstrong Full Conservatory Oboe? Any good? Is it considered a beginners oboe or intermediate?

I have an oboe that is an Armstrong. Can someone tell me if this is a relatively good brand? It`s secondhand and I`ve had it for about a year. Please reply!

No, Armstrong`s aren`t generally good as you find them in a lot of elementary/middle schools. Is yours plastic? I would assume it is because of how cheaply made they seem to be.

I hope I just didn`t bash your oboe

My oboe is wooden and although it is secondhand it`s still got a pretty decent sound.
I would have liked to buy a better one but that was the best one. I suppose to evaluate my oboe properly you would have to actually see it, right?

Oh, and don`t worry about slamming my oboe, it`s thick skinned!

My moto is, if you like it and it plays well go for it....brand reputation isn`t everything...it`s what works for you! Oboes are expensive, so get one that you can afford but remember that the best oboe for you might not be the most expensive one!

After playing professionally for a while now, I think that the rosewood fossattis have nice flirtatious qualities that one cannot somtimes find in a loree or even a laubin. People should also know that these big names that play oboes that advertise for selmer and yahoo have their instruments hand cut for them that are the same as the loree and laubin, so that is why they advertise them. I would not get a selmer though personally. I would just go for the new Fossatis, Howarths. I have recently played on some new lorees and I have discovered taht even some of their cahracteristics are dwindling.
