Very nice, keep it up! I like your tone. I've been working on the English Horn, but my tone isn't nearly as pretty. Where do you get your English Horn reeds from?
i want to play english horn so badly... but of course there are no music stores that rent them in penn. so the only choice really is to rent from ca? but its like $200 a month and im already renting my oboe and we're a little more than half way there to get my new one

i saw your english horn playing.. wow is it good. i want to post myself playing my oboe.. but i have no idea how. :P
Simply fantastic !!! I've always, always, wanted to play english horn, but, unfortunately, there is no access to one around here . Hopefully someday I'll be able to afford one of my own.
Well darn. Good for you though, making your own reeds. I can't do that yet. Adjust reeds, heck yes! Scrape blanks, ...well, they're playable. Make reeds, nope.
Guess I'll continue on my quest for a good English horn reed.
Very pretty! I had to play a piece that required English Horn. Playing English Horn was probably the bane of my existence. But once I got it down it was fun...(for lack of a better adjective
I just watched your videos, and I have one question for you. How far down on the oboe reed do you tend to play? From what I could tell, it looked as if you were right on the string with a very "flat" emobosure. This is not criticism at all, as I do like your tone in general, especially on the eglish horn. I just know I've learned to play much closer to the tip of the reed than what I saw with a much rounded embosure. But I guess each teacher has their own method on proper embosure... and I guess it has a lot to do with your reeds also. Who are you studying with? I assume you are at a university studying with an applied instructor.
I study with 2 teachers, my main teacher is a former peabody oboist and long time band director at a boarding school and the other is oboe/eh professor at the University of Delaware. I only study with him every couple of months. This summer I will be studing with Tom Stacy of the New York Philharmonic.
