Hello! I was curious if anyone had any info on "voss" oboes.. My father had bought a used one to recondition/repair a number of years ago, but never finished it. I thought I would take a stab at it, and I'm just curious about the maker.. I tried googling it, but couldn't find any hits for a voss oboe. "Voss" is printed on both parts of the oboe (except the bell), and there's a serial number at the bottom of the top piece. I couldn't find any model number.

Any info would be appreiated!
Ben

I found close to no info on the 'Vos' company but NOT Voss... The Vos company was around until the middle of the 1700s so I'm doubting that this is the same company that manufactured the oboe in question. Do you have any pictures of the oboe? It may be a 'stencil' brand. Stencil instruments are referred to when one company produced an instrument and another company stamped their logo/name on the instrument(s). Thanks!

Yeah.. I'm pretty sure its not a 17th century oboe . In any case, I posted some pics over in this thread..
