well you cant fix reeds. you use them until they crack and then you get a new one. this is a website that has info about the double reeds. http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/music/oboe.html#c3 . this is a website about air and note register. but all reeds are different especially oboe reeds because they are not machine made. each one is hand made and all reed makers use different tecniques. one oboe reed might be good for this person but bad for another. that is pretty much it. use these links for more. http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/music/oboe2.html#c1

Many new oboe players cracked reeds when they unintentionally switch back to the embouchre they used on clarinet, or saxophone. Be careful not to drift away form the double lip embouchre and be sure your instrument angle is correct.

tonguing is different between different players. My suggestion is keep the tongue low in the mouth. When you want to tongue use the blade of the tongue, this is about 1/2 inch behind the top of your tongue. Try to tongue with a "D" instead of a "T". IT shoudl result in your tongue coming up the underside of the bottom reed and just closing the reed off. For faster tonguing or harder tonguing try tonguing the side corner of the reed.

IF you hear anything else from anyone more professioanl listen to them. I haven't played oboe in many years.

How did you break them? Was it just an accident, or did they crack while you were playing them? Did you soak them in water before playing on them? Have you been squeezing your reeds open from the sides?

in my experience, reeds seem to last longer if you switch back and forth between two different ones. that, along with soaking the reeds before you play, should help you get the longest life possible out of your reeds.
