I play oboe in my highschool band, and this is my senior year. Seeing as I am going off to Marines this summer, I am not going to need my oboe anymore. I was planning to sell it at the end of the year, and I was wondering what I could get for it. Right now I have a plastic Signet student model what has all of the keys a conservatory model would, including the banana key. I have been using it for about eight years, and the original purchase price was about $1,100. Does anyone know what a good asking price would be, and would it be better to sell it over ebay or at a store? Thanks.

I would probably sell the oboe for about $800, give or take either way... Unfortunately the brand of oboe you have is not a big brand in the United States anymore, having been taken over by Loree, Marigaux, Rigoutat, Yamaha and Fox. So the resale value of your oboe is going to have to be around that price, because it will most likely go to a beginner oboist for a great starting instrument before they uprade to one of the bigger brands.

Good Luck,

Adam
