It looks like i`m going to be choosing between these three bassoons pretty soon. Which of these three would you think would be the best for a semi-profesional college orchestra or i guess just in general

The Moosmann. I played a Schreiber S16 for a few years in the past. Reliable. I once played a Fox: A good instrument, but I don`t like it. Now I am playing a Moosmann: Really amazing for the money!

I have a Schrieber and would recomend either the Schrieber or the Moosman, The more german the better in my opinion.

try and get the moosmann 150....i play a 200, my friend plays a 150, and they really are worth the extra money, because the question you have to ask yourself is, how long do you want to wait before you get a new instrument. in a semi professional setting, the moosmann 100 will last you 2 - 3 years, no more, you will have to upgrade, but the moosmann150 will last you a long time, my friend will see hiself playing it for a good 5 - 10 years to come

actually i just put in an order for a bassoon and it will be coming in the mail this friday. Which bassoon you may be wondering. actually it was none of the above

It was......

Fox/Renard 220

I basically had the choice of the Fox 220 or the schreiber 5016. I used to take private lessons from a bassoon specialist/maintenence and repair technician and he told me the fox 220 would be better than the schreiber. Hopefully I made the right choice but i`m confident in it because of my old bassoon teacher. He played in the beijing symphony for years and has basically dedicated his life to bassoon so i`m assuming he knows quite a bit about this

yeah....thats a really good bassoon, steady as a rock...its also good cos you can ship it back to Alan Fox over in indiana for services...as opposed to a german bassoon....good luck with it

Im gonna have to get used to the keys because they are quite different than my old schreiber. a lot of the keys are square shapped where my old bassoons were all rounded.
