I hope you know what I'm talking about. I'm using a dodgy old school instrument, and the screw that keeps the handrestmould-thing in place is missing. So every time I take my hand off it to turn the page or something the stupid thing spins around, and it gives me a lot of grief if it's a rather quick change and my hand isn't in place in time.
Do you know any ways I can keep the handrest in place without a screw? Any home remedies?

Yeah - I would go for blu-tack. You can probably dig it out of the hole periodically where it is bound to get stuck in.

It's a high school instrument that I've been borrowing for the past few years. It's nice.. but it's dying, and rather quickly. So if I were to get a replacement screw it would have to go thru the school - and my school is cheap.
I'll try blutack. Thanks.

My first bassoon had the screw but no hand rest. I think you should consider yourself lucky, I had the stupid thing cutting into my hand for a year. Got a nice shiny new one now though
